Dose Management

Due to the recent increase in public awareness around patient radiation exposure, several states have passed legislation requiring the tracking and monitoring of radiation dosages and patient exposure. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association's Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) continues its dose reduction effort with the approval of MITA Smart Dose, a standard that helps our providers optimize and manage dosages in CT scanning while reducing radiation exposure by up to 60%.

Elkview General Hospital's CT scanner is compliant with NEMA XR29-2013 standards on CT equipment related to dose optimization and management.

State of the Art Ultrasound

Based on over 40 years of industry-leading experience, Our new Aplio 300 overcomes the challenges of conventional ultrasound with Toshiba's revolutionary High-Density Beamformer Architecture. Incorporating advanced signal processing capabilities and an array of unique imaging technologies, it quickly and consistently delivers images with exceptional resolution and detail that improve accuracy and increase confidence in clinical decision-making.

With the Aplio’s new and enhanced Precision Imaging technology you can now experience ultrasound imaging as close to reality as never before. From widespread areas to fine details in layers and boundaries, Precision Imaging reveals more clinical detail for a faster and safer diagnosis. Precision Imaging delivers outstandingly smooth images with significantly sharpened outline of lesions, enhanced image uniformity and reduced clutter.

We pride ourselves with being fully accredited by the American College of Radiology. Elkview also offers a full array of Ultra-Sound services, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and general X-Ray.

Our Mammography technicians have over 25 years of combined experience and are all licensed with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Digital Mammography

Digital mammography is another great tool we have added to our department. Unlike film-based mammography, digital mammograms produce images that appear on the technologists monitor in a matter of seconds. There is no film to develop, which can mean a shorter time spent in the breast imaging suite. With digital mammography, the radiologist reviews electronic images of the breast, using special high-resolution monitors, being able to manipulate images is one of the main benefits of digital technology.

This scan, which took only four seconds, shows the blood vessels inside the brain. Such detail helps physicians diagnose strokes, aneurysms (including the one visible on the right side of this image), brain tumors and more.

This scan, provided by Toshiba, shows a stent in a coronary artery in a view of the exterior of the heart (top) and also in a cross-section through the coronary artery in which it was inserted (bottom)

Computed Tomography

Our Toshiba Aquilion CT is one the fastest, most powerful CT scanners on the market. Using Toshiba's proprietary coneXact algorithm, XR 29 with Double Slice Technology can reconstruct 128 images every rotation of the gantry, enabling volume reconstruction in double density, improving 3-D and MPR resolution. This scanner gives physicians the ability to detect diseases early, when they can be most effectively treated. With early diagnosis, many patients are able to receive less invasive treatments with better outcomes than are possible with later diagnosis.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Elkview offers the newest Toshiba Vantage 1.5 Tesla MRI machine. Its spacious magnet, noise reduction technology and pleasant design work perfectly together to make your experience more comfortable.

In addition to its patient comfort features, the Vantage MRI system performs a wide variety of MRI exams including the latest state-of-the-art imaging techniques. For example, the system enables physicians to perform wide-ranging studies including brain and cardiac imaging, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), as well as advanced chest and abdominal applications.
